Belhasa Interior Design creates new jobs following estructure

Four designers are joining the interiors subsidiary of one of the UAE’s largest holding companies, Saif Belhasa Holding

Aymen El Nashar became managing director of Belhasa Interior Design in January 2019.

Four designers could be hired in the next six months by Dubai-based Belhasa Interior Design as it advances a sustainability-driven expansion following a restructure at the start of the year.

The interiors arm of Saif Belhasa Holding – one UAE’s largest holding companies – hired a designer from French furniture retailer Roche Bobois in July and hopes to fill two junior roles and one mid-level position before the end of year.

Belhasa Interior Design’s managing director, Aymen El Nashar, appointed in January 2019 as part of a shake-up of the boutique agency, told Commercial Interior Design the company is focused on building a sustainability-driven design firm. And it wants people who believe in this ethos.

Recruitment is a big part of the renewed focus and El Nashar wants to appoint people with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) or WELL Building Standard accreditation.

As was a building a team of like-minded people, material procurement is a major part of the company’s new ethos.

“Our approach to design is that we always choose locally-sourced materials over imported materials,” he said. “We choose elements in our design that have minimal environmental impact and have a positive impact on the environment. Through these practices and values we are trying to establish our position as a future leader in sustainable interior design.”

Belhasa-Driving-Centre

The Middle East’s first biophilic driving centre, located at Belhasa Driving Centre in Al Barhsa, is one of the first sustainability-style projects Belhasa Interior Designers will work on.

The second is a major GCC-wide job redesigning more than a dozen branches of a major chocolate and coffee brand. The first branch is located in City Centre Mirdif and its design will take cues from the tropical rainforest – a nod to the origin of the prodcts.

“The office will have recycled materials for everything – there will be no plastic. We will use metallic straws instead of plastic ones and tissues and cups will be made of bamboo instead of plastic,” Egypt-born El Nashar added.

Belhasa Interior Design was formed in 2014 and has worked on Commercial interior design projects for the likes of Ras Al Kamiah (RAK) Police, RAK Government, Dubai Police, and Studio 8 in Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue.
